Project Jagrook: Why Investor Messages Are Changing

The first screen of a trading platform increasingly serves an educational purpose as well as an operational one. SEBI’s circular of 1 October 2026 sets out investor-awareness messaging under Project Jagrook. Read the circular.

The dated transition matters

For stock-broker websites, the circular specifies awareness messages and risk disclosures during 5–31 October 2026, followed by specified awareness messages on landing pages from 1 November. Trading-app messaging is voluntary during the October window; from November, the specified awareness messages and risk disclosures are to appear on alternate days.

Those are requirements for the covered stock brokers. Seeing a similar message elsewhere does not establish that another business is a broker, registered intermediary or approved investment provider.

Give a message a practical job

Before placing an order, consider which part of the warning applies to the action in front of you. Is it asking you to understand a product, recognise market risk or question a claim? Closing the notice does not resolve that question.

A useful personal note records what you intend to do, why, and which uncertainty could change the decision. That note makes the message part of a review rather than another screen to dismiss.

Verify identity independently

Use official channels to check the platform and the party asking for your money. Branding, educational language and a familiar interface are insufficient evidence on their own.

The circular may be followed by updated messages or further guidance. Source checked on 14 October 2026; consult the official document for the complete requirements.
