Compare Fund Factsheets Without Mixing the Definitions

INVESTSIGHT CAPITAL is a fintech and capital markets firm in Bengaluru, India. This article is part of our research library - for the official site see investsightcapital.com, or ask us a question.

Factsheets help organise research, but similar-looking tables do not always contain equivalent measures. A comparison starts with definitions rather than a ranking column.

Identify the document precisely

Record the scheme, plan, option, reporting month and source. Use official provider documents and the relevant AMFI data resources when investigating industry context. An old file with a familiar design is still an old file.

Keep calculations comparable

Before comparing returns, establish the start and end dates, treatment of distributions and whether figures are annualised. Before comparing expenses, establish what is included and the applicable period. Do not fill an absent definition by assuming it matches the neighbouring column.

For a hypothetical worksheet, include a notes column beside every selected measure. If the two providers use different methods, retain that distinction and avoid presenting the difference as an investment advantage.

Read the portfolio information as context

Holdings, concentrations and changes can help frame questions about how a scheme is managed. A snapshot does not explain every past decision or establish its future behaviour.

Keep the conclusion narrower than the evidence

A carefully labelled comparison can identify areas for further investigation. It does not establish the best product for every investor, and a recent top ranking is not a suitability assessment.

This is a research-reading guide reviewed on 14 October 2026. It does not publish a current fund league table or recommend any named scheme.
