Your NAV Feed Needs More Than a Successful Download

INVESTSIGHT CAPITAL is a fintech and capital markets firm in Bengaluru, India. This article is part of our research library - for the official site see investsightcapital.com, or ask us a question.

A data request returning successfully does not mean the file still matches the expectations of the program reading it.

AMFI’s NAV-download page states that the old download format has been discontinued and directs users to the new format. It also notes a maximum 90-day period for an individual historical download. Check the current download page.

Validate the file contract

Check the header, delimiter, required fields, dates and scheme identifiers before accepting rows. Keep a small set of expected examples for testing. A parser should reject a structural mismatch clearly rather than returning an empty portfolio that looks plausible.

Preserve the observation date

The time a file is downloaded is different from the date of its NAV observations. Show both when a person needs to assess freshness. A newly downloaded file can still contain older values for some entries.

For example, a weekend refresh should not relabel the last available observation as a new business-day valuation. That distinction matters even if no calculation changes.

Reconcile exceptions

Separate missing schemes, unexpected identifiers and incomplete historical coverage from ordinary values. Log the failed checks and retain the previous verified dataset with its correct date where the workflow permits it.

These are engineering checks for a research application, not a representation of a live InvestSight valuation feed. Source checked on 14 October 2026; review the actual provider documentation before implementing or changing a connector.
