A fluent paragraph can make an uncertain conclusion feel settled. In financial research, the useful question is whether another person can inspect the evidence behind each important statement.
Turn the answer into checkable claims
Split a summary into claims: a reported figure, an event date, a comparison and an interpretation. Ask for the source passage for each factual claim, then open the original document rather than trusting a generated citation.
For example, an assistant might correctly identify a company but confuse a quarterly figure with a full-year value. Checking the period and units can be more important than improving the wording of its explanation.
Repeat the calculation independently
Keep the inputs and calculation separate from the prose. Recompute a ratio or percentage change in a transparent worksheet. A model’s confidence is not a substitute for arithmetic or a definition of the measure.
If the source does not establish the claim, mark it unresolved. Do not convert a missing reference into an invented estimate without identifying it as an assumption.
Record the review
Store the source version, access date and correction alongside the final note. That record helps when a document is revised or a later reviewer asks why a conclusion was reached.
